Welcome back to Waifu Wednesday, Niche Gamer’s column where we talk about characters, their appeal, and a little on their history.
This week’s waifu is Yu Mei-ren from Fate/Grand Order.
I’m going to start off by saying she’s really cute and I respect the Fate franchise’s importance in weeb fandom, but frankly I don’t know much about it (I’m more of a Blue Archive person). That being said, like everyone’s waifu she deserves respect and consideration, so let’s get into it.
Yu Mei-ren is based off of the consort Yu who was the wife of the Chinese historical figure Xiang Yu. Her true name was unknown and history remembers her as “Yu the Beauty”.
The Yu in the game is an Assassin-class servant with a svelte figure and glasses. She looks like a cool and sophisticated researcher or teacher.
Yu is not only intelligent and elegant, but she’s also a devoted lover who wants to be reunited with Xiang Yu, even if it’s in a different timeline.
Yu Mei-ren was suggested by our Twitter follower Advent_Nebula!
Feel free to share who your waifu is on our Twitter or Facebook and who knows, we might feature them in a regular Waifu Wednesday post!
Fate/Grand Order has been available for both iOS and Android devices since 2015.
