Welcome back to Waifu Wednesday, Niche Gamer’s column where we talk about characters, their appeal, and a little on their history.
Ahoy! This week’s waifu is Houshou Marine from Hololive!
It’s been a few weeks since we did a member of Hololive, and Marine is definitely one of the most identifiable members in the west. Largely thanks to her shameless provocation, full-figured character model, and sense of humor. The popular meme where she cheerfully shouts “I’m horny!“ also helped skyrocket her popularity among English-speaking fans.
Marine often acts as the funny man for Hololive’s more straight-laced talents to bounce jokes off of, she’s also a member of multiple in-house groups including the musical group UMISEA and most recently holoWitches, a magical girl multimedia project.
Marine has her own original songs such as “I’m Your Treasure Box”, but we really wanted to feature her cover of the pop classic song “Mayanaka no Door” or “Stay With Me”, originally by Miki Matsubara.
