Timberborn Update 1 Adds Vertical Water Pumps and More

Timberborn Update 1

Developer Mechanistry announced the Timberborn update 1 is now available, adding a host of new content, fixes, and gameplay tweaks to the beaver city builder.

Timberborn update 1 is the first major post-early access launch content release for the game, with the biggest addition being water pumps! Now your beavers can pump water from lower regions up through pipes into great reservoirs and other high-altitude projects.

Other new additions with the big first content update bring new buildings like public pools, mud baths, observatories, and even infinite metal mines – because apparently users were running out of metal deposits in building ruins with earlier builds. There’s also new crops and other resources like chestnuts, which come from thicker and harder to grow chestnut trees.

Another major change up in the update is that water wheels will actually slightly slow down the flow of water, so you’ll be less efficient by building endless rows of waterwheels in the new build. There’s also an even bigger, more ridiculous new water wheel that’s also more efficient.

The addition of more water controls and manipulation also brings with it the new ability to grow cattail, a plant that only grows in water and is edible (for humans too, in case you’re wondering). It’s worth noting that a look-alike plant, poison iris, looks nearly identical but lacks the cigar-shaped head.

Here’s a new trailer for the update:

It’s worth noting that Timberborn has had a very successful early access launch, selling over 130,000 copies during its launch week.

Timberborn is now available for Windows PC via Steam Early Access.
