The Escapist have announced they are partnering with GOG for the The Escapist Indie Showcase; set to showcase 70 indie games.
On The Escapists’ own website, they explain how the event will begin on June 11th (from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. ET) with a Nintendo Direct style showcase of 70 different indie games on YouTube (with reveals, gameplay, and developer diaries). The games showcased will also be added to the official landing page.
After this, June 12th though 14th (at 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. ET) will act as a post-show featuring those games being played live (“in-depth hands-on demos”) pre-recorded gameplay, and interviews with developers.

The announcement also explains the motivations behind the event.
“We’re very excited to put on this event to bookend another year of The Escapist’s rejuvenation effort as we work to provide a positive and fun atmosphere for our viewers to escape to, all while supporting the independent developers that have lost out on many opportunities to showcase their games due to the COVID-19 pandemic.”
The ongoing coronavirus pandemic (also known as COVID-19 officially, or Chinese Flu to others) has affected many worldwide, from businesses to public gatherings and events.
This includes postponements of GDC, the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, the physical events for EVO 2020 and Tokyo Game Show 2020, and cancellations E3 2020 (including digital events), BlizzCon 2020, the physical event for Gamescom 2020, Comiket 98, and MAGStock 2020.
