SteelSeries QcK Prism Cloth Mouse Pad Review

qck mousepad w/ peripherals on it

Long gone are the days of the desk being bare with just a standard surface. This sounds like a sales pitch, but it isn’t; the SteelSeries QcK Prism Cloth mouse pad comes in various sizes other than the standard, medium-size mousepads. They still do feature RGB— but it’s the quality that matters here, and I think this might be the highest quality gaming mouse pad I’ve used. Here’s our SteelSeries QcK Prism Cloth mouse pad review:

There are a number of mousepads you can get in the market and a lot of them are usually small but customized. While that certainly is an advantage, I would much prefer having more mouse tracking space so I can move around without going off the edge. This is one of the major reasons I went with the 5XL version of the QcK Prism Cloth, which covers my whole desk and then some.

Some of the biggest positives about using this gaming mouse pad in any size is how soft and well woven it is, thanks to a high thread count. Also, all your gaming peripherals sitting on it can be cleaned easily. It does attract a fair amount of dust— especially if you have the 5XL variant, since it’s much larger. Cleaning is easy, however, if you just do spot cleaning with basic methods that won’t damage its smooth surface.

All around the edges are the RGB lights which can be customized via SteelSeries GG, the new name for SteelSeries Engine software. You can create complex lighting effects that react to something in-game like health or shields being depleted and notifications from things like Discord. Things like that are a good presentation even if you’re closer to it. Underneath each mousepad is your typical non slip rubber base designed to eliminate unwanted movement. After months of use, I have found that this mousepad has remained flawless.

The medium size is one most people will be familiar with since it’s a smaller more normal size. If you have the inkling to “go big or go home” and you have the space to manage it, go for the 5XL and cover everything instead of exposing something like your wooden, rustic desk— like me.

There are some very particular downsides to this obviously. In addition to the dust from earlier, marks do show up on the mousepad very easily. Thankfully, they don’t stay forever and you can wipe them off but it’s a routine thing to do if you want a neat appearance.

One more thing to mention: if you do plan to get a bigger mousepad outside of the medium size, please take proper measurements since these can be massive and flap off of your desk. It’s not necessarily a downside, but something to note. Beyond all of that, the SteelSeries QcK Prism Cloth mouse pad is a great addition to the desk ecosystem you have and you can feel the comfiness all across your desk.
