Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake development rebooted at Ubisoft Montreal

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake

Ubisoft has revealed their Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake is actually quite a ways off from release still, despite its long development cycle.

The game is now in the “conception” phase at Ubisoft Montreal, news confirmed by producer Jean-Francois Naud and game director Michael McIntyre.

“In terms of the development stage, we’re in conception right now,” the duo said in a new interview. “Since we took over the project, we’ve been looking at feedback from the community and finding our own way of delivering the game. Now, we’re building up the team, defining the priorities, putting prototypes together, testing elements, and looking at how we can include community feedback in the development as well. It’s still in an early stage, and players should not expect to hear more about the game this year, but rest assured that we’re all putting our strengths and heart into this project.”

The remake was delayed several times, only to now be handed over to their main team at Ubisoft Montreal – news of it being in the conceptual phase hints that it’s being rebuilt from the ground up.

Lastly, Ubisoft was quick to confirm the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake will not be at Ubisoft Forward 2023, their annual showcase event.
