Johnny Somali, a nuisance streamer who made headlines over the past two years for his crimes in Japan and South Korea has been sentenced to time in prison with hard labor.
According to Dexerto, Somali (Ismael Ramsey Khalid) was found guilty of all charges. This included serious charges regarding creating deepfake images or video without someone’s consent. As we’ve previously supported, Somali has made a nuisance of himself in multiple countries including Japan and Israel. This is in addition to his ill-fated trip to South Korea.
Perhaps one of Somali’s most egregious offenses was when he molested a statue erected to memorialize WW2 “comfort women“, these were women who were systematically raped by Japanese soldiers during the occupation of South Korea during the war. Shortly after this incident, he went into hiding and taunted South Korean citizens over social media.
One South Korean man even managed to track Somali down and knock him out.
In Japan, Somali was found guilty but was able to leave the country. In South Korea he wasn’t so lucky and it appears he’ll be behind bars unless American politicians get involved.
Nuisance Streaming refers to the act of committing criminal or antisocial acts on social media for “entertainment”. These types of streams are more popular on sites like TikTok and Kick where moderation is more relaxed than YouTube or Twitch.
