Nintendo has cut the price on the single Nintendo Switch Joy-Con controller.
While the individual Joy-Con’s have cost $49.99 since release, they’re being cut $10, down to $39.99, starting November 9th. The Joy-Con price point has been set in stone since the hybrid console launched over three years ago.
It’s worth noting a pair of Joy-Cons is still priced at $79.99, so this price change is mostly to get the single Joy-Cons in line with the double pack. It’s worth noting a new pair of Joy-Cons cost roughly a third of the Nintendo Switch itself, as the standard console is still priced at $299.99.
The Nintendo Switch has been plagued with consistent reports from users with Joy-Con “drift”, where the joysticks on either Joy-Con begin to malfunction and continue to move in directions incorrectly, after the user stops their input. The Joy-Con drift has become the subject of numerous lawsuits, and has even led to Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa reportedly apologizing for the issue.
The Nintendo Switch is available worldwide. Numerous rumors, patents, and potential leaks for a “Nintendo Switch Pro” have been coming up through recent months, despite Nintendo being mum on the possibility of a new version of their console.
