Miyamoto says “no doubt” they’ll make another movie, teases using other Nintendo IPs

To call the recently released Super Mario Bros. Movie a success for Nintendo would be an understatement.

The first big-budget animated film for the company has managed to break records among video game adaptations, and is even on track to break $1 billion in sales.

To no one’s surprise, Nintendo see this success and don’t plan on having this just be a one time deal. Most people expect a Mario sequel, but there could be more than just the famous plumber in the future.

In a new interview, Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto teased that the company’s movie plans go past just Mario.

Miyamoto said there is “no doubt” he will make another film (via Nikkei) and noted video games have long been a single pillar of their business. However, he sees Nintendo as a “talent agency” and aims for growth through the utilization of their various IPs.

They do have plenty of popular IPs under their name and something such as a Legend of Zelda film would make sense with the upcoming launch of Tears of the Kingdom next month, adding more to the hype.

So the many fans of the Super Mario Bros. Movie certain have something to look forward to when it comes to watching, and they could also have something else to look forward to when it comes to Nintendo’s other games as well.
