“Localizers” have been upset over the recent news of series The Ancient Magus’ Bride getting a simultaneous English AI translation.

Here are some tweets from a certain familiar localizer about the news:


Even though AI is relatively new technology which still hasn’t been perfected, coupled with the fact that machine translators are by no means 100% accurate, many consider the AI translation to be a positive thing.

There are many examples of real translators/localizers inserting their own political bias or made unnecessary changes to English scripts, whether it be manga with Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu, Fire Emblem Engage, Live a Live, or Digimon Survive, there have been countless examples in the past few years.

Since the release of the news of The Ancient Magus’ Bride manga’s AI translation, the official Twitter account clarified the situation:
