We’ve learned (via NHK) a Japanese man was arrested for threatening Japanese developer Square Enix over losses and frustration with one of their games.
25-year-old care worker Suto Kanda was arrested for sending threatening emails to the Square Enix corporate location after losing a bunch of money in a gacha game today. The game(s) in question were not specified.
The man was quoted with grievances regarding missing rewards, endless updates, and not getting the answers that he wanted when contacting support.
Maybe Altera was right when she says ”gacha is bad civilization!” all the time in the animated shorts. Gacha games may be borderline robbery, but putting out threats is going too far.
Today’s threats come roughly two months after another man threatened Square Enix with a “repeat of Kyoto Animation”, a nod to the awful arson attack on Japanese animation studio Kyoto Animation, which claimed the lives of 35 people.
