Genshin Impact Earned Over $100 Million Within First 2 Weeks

Despite having only released two weeks ago, we’ve learned Genshin Impact has earned over $100 million in total sales.

The free-to-play game has earned back its entire reported budget of $100 million (via Niko Partners) within two weeks in worldwide sales, a new milestone since its launch on September 28th, 2020. This is reportedly the most successful launch for an original IP from a Chinese game developer.

Genshin Impact is free-to-play but uses a gacha-system (lootboxes for Asian games) to reward players with in-game characters and weapons.

As the rates vary and rewards may be easier when “banners” rotate between events, it may take a lot of real-world money for you to get the 5-star character or weapon you want.

In recent news, developer miHoYo confirmed they’re looking at next-generation versions for Genshin Impact, most likely for PS5 as they noted there are currently no plans for an Xbox version.

Genshin Impact is now available for Windows PC, PlayStation 4, and smartphones via iOS or Android. A Nintendo Switch version is planned.
