Capcom Fighting Collection update removes a “slur” that was improperly translated

It has been learned that the Capcom Fighting Collection was updated to remove a “slur”, one that was incorrectly translated in the original game from some time ago.

Capcom Fighting Collection contains a bunch of old fighting games that have been updated for the “modern era”, and in this case – in the text as well.

A Twitter user disclosed that one of the games in the bundle had its dialogue changed in the update to omit what certain contingents of “individuals” now label as a “slur”:

As noted by the screenshot, the word was never used in the original Japanese dialogue, so it was technically incorrectly translated in the old version from how many decades ago:

Considering the west’s oversensitivity to “mean words”, it was only a matter of time before it was removed.

Capcom Fighting Collection has been available across Windows PC (via Steam), Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4. Check our review on the collection here!
