Atlus Hopes to Release “Pillar of Atlus” Title in 2022

Pillar of Atlus

While it’s been over five years since the initial release of Persona 5, it seems Atlus might be ready to unveil the next big title in their popular franchise – which they’re teasing as a “pillar of Atlus.”

The news of an incoming “pillar of Atlus” title for 2022 comes from Atlus product manager Shinjiro Takada, who provided end of year comments in a big interview roundup at Famitsu.

“We set ‘challenge’ as the keyword for the 22nd year, hoping to release a work that would become a pillar of Atlus,” Takada said.

He added, “All of us at Atlus are working hard to develop this game so that it will be interesting and satisfying for everyone, and I hope you will look forward to it.”

It’s worth pointing out this potential title is probably separate from Atlus’ other big upcoming game, Project Re Fantasy, which is being produced by a separate internal team under Studio Zero.

When asked what else he wants to look out for in 2022, Takada said it’s actually the Breath of the Wild sequel, which has no firm release date.

“I’ve been looking forward to the sequel of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for a long time.” he said. “It’s a game that I was so passionate about that I forgot to eat or sleep, so just the thought of playing it again excites me.”

The latest big game to come from Atlus was the recently released Shin Megami Tensei V, which launched worldwide in November 2022 for Nintendo Switch. In case you missed it, you can find our very thorough review on the game here – we highly recommend it!
