Nintendo Switch OLED Model Has the Same Processor but Includes LAN Support

Nintendo Switch OLED Model Has the Same Processor

Following the news that Nintendo will release a Nintendo Switch OLED model, fans immediately speculated whether the new model had any new hardware. Now, we’ve learned the Nintendo Switch OLED model has the same processor but it does include LAN support.

The news that the Nintendo Switch OLED model has the same processor comes via official responses from Nintendo to Famitsu, confirming the CPU / GPU is indeed the original, customized Tegra processor made by Nvidia for previous Nintendo Switch models.

The responses from Nintendo also confirm they currently have no plans to sell the new dock and the white Joy-Cons separately, so you’ll need to pony up for the OLED model if you want those fancy new white plastic cases.

Furthermore, the Japanese FAQ page for the Nintendo Switch OLED model confirms the dock that comes with it will in fact work with previous model Switch units and vice versa.

The Nintendo Switch OLED model is launching on October 8 – the same day that Metroid Dread launches for Switch as well – you can read more about that here in our previous report on the game’s announcement.
