First Trailer for Medabots Classics

This is Niche Imports. In this column, we regularly cover games that haven’t been announced for western audiences yet. Please leave feedback and let us know if there’s something you want us to cover!

Despite the original Medabots developer going out of business, Japanese publisher Imagineer still owns the rights to the series and are re-releasing games from the franchise on the Nintendo 3DS.

Featured above, the first trailer shows off the new collection of games, which includes the following titles from the series:

  • Medabots (Game Boy, 1997)
  • Medabots 2 (Game Boy Color, 1999)
  • Medabots 3 (Game Boy Color, 2000)
  • Medabots 4 (Game Boy Color, 2001)
  • Medabots 5: Susu Take Mura no Tenkōsei (Game Boy Color, 2001)

It’s worth pointing out each game has new features.

Medabots Classics is launching on December 21st in Japan in its traditional two-version releases, Kabuto and Kuwagata, in both standard retail, a limited edition 20th anniversary release, and via the eShop.

Shame that Metabots never quite took off in America the way Pokemon or Digimon did. Enjoyed what little they aired of the series as a kid.
