Final Fantasy XV: Pocket Edition Announced

Square Enix has announced yet another spinoff set within the Final Fantasy XV universe.

Titled simply Final Fantasy XV: Pocket Edition, the new game is set for iOS, Android, and Windows 10 devices sometime later this year. It’s supposed to retell the story of Final Fantasy XV, but in a more compact manner (quite literally). Featured above, you can view the game’s announcement trailer.

Players will follow the 10-episode story of the console game and its main characters, however it uses a new art style to feasibly run on smartphone devices. The game also utilizes touch controls that are optimized for smartphones. The first episode will be free, while the remaining episodes sound like you’ll need to purchase them separately.

Gladiolus is looking a bit like Boom Knuckles in this. It kind of looks like the DS remakes, but not quite. I was hoping for ATB given the platform it’s on.

Windows 10 for smartphones needs more love from Microsoft. Or maybe they’re neglecting it on purpose because the don’t want Apple to invent new iOS features two years after Microsoft implemented them.

I laughed so hard before I watched the video. But for a mobile game it does look quite nice and fun, not that I will ever play it.

like I’m not excited about it but… I kind of like more phone games like this and less daily-login grindy gatcha-fests like every other smartphone game.
