Final Fantasy XV Heads to PC in Early 2018

Square Enix has confirmed to Niche Gamer that Final Fantasy XV is heading to PC.

The game will launch exclusively for Windows PC sometime early next year as Final Fantasy XV Windows Edition. Featured above, you can view the game’s PC announcement trailer.

Here are the first screenshots and key art for the game’s Windows version:

Final Fantasy XV Windows Edition will include the following GameWorks technology for in-game graphics and physics simulations:

  • NVIDIA Flow – creates vivid, combustible fluid, fire and smoke.
  • NVIDIA HairWorks – creates dynamic, life-like hair and fur for characters, animals and monsters that inhabit the game.
  • NVIDIA ShadowWorks – enables characters to cast shadows on themselves.
  • NVIDIA Turf Effects – creates life-like grass and vegetation in the game environment.
  • NVIDIA VXAO – adds depth and realism based on the physics principles shadows and light.

There is also support for both GeForce® Experience™ capture and share tools:

  •  NVIDIA Ansel™, an in-game photography tool that allows gamers to compose shots from any position, adjust with post-process filters, capture HDR images in high fidelity formats, and share screenshots in 360 via a smartphone, PC or VR headset.
  • NVIDIA ShadowPlay™ Highlights automatically captures the player’s greatest gaming achievements in video and screenshot, enabling seamless sharing through social channels

Final Fantasy XV is currently available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. In case you missed it, you should check out our written and video review for the game here.

Editor’s Note: There’s a list of recommended specs making the rounds – we’re awaiting verification if these are real or a falsification.

I want mod support, or at least have access to personalize music files. I want the Regalia to live the K-pop/Nsync dream.

So I’m guessing shit optimization for AMD with all of that Nvidia Gameworks stuff.

    recommended specifications
    Monitor: supports 4K and HDR
    GPU: Nvidia GeForce 1080Ti
    CPU: Intel i7 3.4GHz or Ryzen 7 1700
    RAM: 16GB
    HDD: 170GB

Jesus, 170GB? I’m guessing half of that are the 4K textures? At least make it an optional download, even Bethesda got that right.

Mod the battle theme to be Backstreet’s Back and I’m in.

Oh and, you know… Cindy SFM when?

AMD video cards have always been shit though, hence so many developers using game works.

I guess, the 480 seems pretty decent though. The real problem is that they didn’t really have any high end cards until Vega, which is still only around 1070 level and is a PSU hog.

When they mean “Windows Edition” I’m hoping they don’t mean this is a Windows Store only game…

Also, since it says “Early 2018” I’m guessing before the end of this year the DLC is going to stop then.

It is true. Granted I have a GeForce and will probably stick with Nvidia but you are fully correct. The PC market doesn’t need this kind of nonsense in it. But I guess it will be a necessary evil until there is a third graphics card maker….which I don’t see happening anytime soon.

I’m sure that’s Squares new way of keeping pirating at bay at the expense of their paying customers.

Man, i was just about to go “WOW! I can actually play thi-” then i seen the fucking huge amount of memory. Yes, i do have enough of HDD space, but fuck me, with my internet, that would at least take about 12 days of downloading!

Well, it’s not like Denuvo is effective anymore (which this will certainly have anyway because publishers love to waste money on shit that doesn’t work).

It will no longer be Denuvo, it’ll be Denuvo Force; a group of 5 DRMs working over one another to help you burn out that HDD so you can have a reason to get the sweet new model!

The file size is what gets me the most, FFXV on consoles with all currently released updates and DLC is only around 70GBs, which is already pushing it. Let’s assume that the rest of the DLC and updates add another 30, that’s still another 70GBs for muh uncompressed 4K textures and audio. It’s fucking ridiculous.

Nvidia’s silly proprietary technologies like hair etc. never run well even on Nvidia cards. Remember the hair for the dog Riley in CoD Ghosts that tanked everyone’s FPS?

With this many of ’em in one game, coupled with Square-We Don’t Do Post-Launch Patches-Soft, this game is undoubtedly going to run like absolute garbage.

Yep, those effects are only ever optimized to run on whatever nvidia’s current flagship gpu is.

Its not really even Gameworks itself that’s the problem, its Nvidia’s bullshit policies regarding who gets to see the code.

At least AMD’s is open source.

170GB…Hnmm hopefully half is optional download but yeah hopefully it’s gonna be cheap as hell at some point (doubt it though…)

Gonna stick to my PS4 version since I got it for cheap decent game but too short??(“easy” maybe??)

    *Might have valid criticism*
*Cites a poorly optimized game like COD Ghost*
*Game looked worse than past games and while still running badly*
