Yuji Naka will not serve any jail time over insider trading

Yuji Naka will not serve any jail time after being convicted of insider trading.

A court in Japan decided that Naka’s punishment for insider trading would not include any jail time. Instead he has been fined approximately 172 million JPY (about $1.1 million USD) and a four year suspended sentence.

This sentence will require Naka to keep on the right side of the law and comply with relevant court requests or his sentence will be enacted.

Last year, Naka was arrested (twice!) on allegations of insider trading focusing on his investment in mobile game developers who received contracts with Square Enix. At the time, Naka was employed by Square Enix, allegedly giving him privileged information regarding these deals.

Yuji Naka is best known for his role as Lead Programmer on the original Sonic the Hedgehog.

Mr. Naka however has not yet answered for Balan Wonderworld.
