Yu-Gi-Oh

We’ve learned tragic news: Yu-Gi-Oh! creator Kazuki Takahashi (real name Kazuo Takahashi) has died at the age of 60.

The news that Kazuki Takahashi died was first confirmed by NHK Okinawa (via Hachima Kikou), which reports the Japanese Coast Guard discovered Takahashi’s body off the coast of Nago City, Okinawa Prefecture at 10:30 AM local Japan time.

While details are scant, the Coast Guard apparently noted Takahashi was wearing snorkeling gear, and are currently investigating what led to the famed manga creator passing away. A local boat owner reported a possible body floating off the coast of Nago, after which the search and eventual discovery was made.

Kazuki Takahashi is mostly known for his crazy popular Yu-Gi-Oh! series, but most recently published the limited series The Comiq in Weekly Jump. Takahashi also received the Inkpot award from Comic-Con International for hhis outstanding contribution to comics and manga.
