Video games have become so advanced that they are often compared to movies. Both mediums share much in common between exciting visual effects, cinematic qualities, and the special talents employed. Forrest Gump in 8-Bit Cinema is the latest in the series of video clips created from CineFix. In the video above, Forrest Gump is depicted as a classic NES game from the 80’s. We can see inspirations from classic sports games of the era and even action games such as Contra. The characters, settings, and moments are represented in pixelated 8-bit form and the music is compressed into processed chiptunes. If you’ve seen the movie, you’ll hear the iconic main suite of the movie and even compressed renditions of classic songs of the eras such as “For What it’s worth” by Buffalo Springfield. The music and animation was done by David Dutton and Henry Dutton.

8-bit Cinema takes exciting,  memorable movies and converts them into the classic 8-bit style of classic video games as made famous in the 1980’s. From their simplicity it color and design to the sounds of unforgettable chip tunes, 8 bit styles has become a newly rediscovered style that throws back to the days of a more enthusiastic and genuinely memorable age in the world of video games. 8-Bit Cinema takes certain situations in various movies and converts them closest to what they would be in video games. For example, the Ironman 8-bit Cinema video would be much more like Megaman while Star Trek from 2009 would be much more like a space ship shooter akin to R-Type. The result is an interesting nod to such classic titles while inspired by the movies we have come to enjoy.
