Yakuza 0 Sells Over 500K Units, Series Moves Over 7.5 Million Worldwide

yakuza 0 01-09-15-1

We’ve learned (via Games Talk) that Sega’s Yakuza series is doing quite well in sales, with the launch of Yakuza 0 in Japan.

The Playstation 3 and Playstation prequel has sold over 500,000 units in both Japan and Asia. The game saw a release in Japan back on March 12th of this year.

Coming off this, we now know that global sales for the entire Yakuza series have topped 7.5 million units. Finally, Sega reiterated that the Yakuza series will be celebrating its 10th anniversary, on December 10th of this year.

Sega announced at last year’s Playstation Experience that Yakuza 5 would finally be coming west, although no release date has been given since then. Perhaps we’ll find out at next week’s E3? We’ll keep you guys posted.

The story in 0 is awesome. Wish they brought it over to the west as well.

And playing as Majima is just kick ass.

I think it’ll make the jump through PC. This is among the last of the non-Sonic games getting a console release from Sega. Them and Namco Bandai are hitting the PC hard with gangs of ports.

It’s gotta come to PS4 before it’ll be on PC. Sure as hell aren’t putting it on PC for Japanese markets

The series could have sold even more if SEGA actually brought the games over in a timely fashion.

Yeah, Yakuza 5 on PS3? Who’s going to buy that besides established fans of the series? They should really port it to PS4, but I’m guessing they’ll use it as an excuse to not make any more Yakuza games for the west

Heck I’d even like to see the series ported to the PC if it meant we got the whole series.

I’m guessing that’s too much work for SEGA. They’d actually make quite a bit of money if they got Yakuza 5 and Yakuza 0 out this winter when there’s a game drought on PS4.

A mega collection including remasters or 1 & 2-I’d take forty if they bought that out, on PC or PS4
Frankly, SEGA need to get their finger out-this Sonic drek can’t be breaking even anymore.

Highly possible that they wont make a PS4 Western version considering how Sega Hmms and Haaahs on releasing Yakuza in the West to begin with.
