Microsoft has announced price increases for both the Xbox Series X and S in Japan in response to market changes and the weak yen.

The company announced both the Series X and S consoles will increase their prices from 59,978 yen [tax included] to 66,978 yen and from 37,978 yen to 44,578 yen, respectively. This is actually the second price hike for Japan after prices were slightly increased in January 2023.

It’s worth noting the consoles are priced a bit lower than the suggested western pricing, which are still sold at $499.99 and $299.99, due to the weak yen to dollar conversion rate. The new prices will go into effect on August 15th.

Here are the original prices and the new prices for Xbox in Japan:

• Xbox Series X: 59,978 yen (tax included) → 66,978 yen (tax included)
• Xbox Series S 1TB (Black): 44,578 yen (tax included) → 49,978 yen (tax included)
• Xbox Series S 512GB: 37,978 yen (tax included) → 44,578 yen (tax included)
