Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S prices are increasing in Japan

Microsoft has confirmed price increases for both the Xbox Series X and S in Japan to adjust for market instability.

The company announced both the Series X and S consoles will increase their prices from 54978 yen [tax included] to 59978 yen and from 32978 yen to 37978 yen, respectively.

It’s worth noting the consoles are priced a bit lower than the suggested western pricing, which are sold at $499.99 and $299.99. The new prices go into effect for Japan on February 17th.

“After carefully evaluating the market situation in Japan, we have decided to change the reference price of the Xbox console in Japan,” Microsoft said in a statement. “This price revision also affects our customers, and it was a difficult decision, but we will continue to provide the best Xbox experience that our customers have come to expect.”

Direct competitor Sony also increased their prices for the PlayStation 5, but for most regions outside of the United States. Nintendo has yet to even show an inkling of increasing the price on the Switch, though.
