Xbox unveils new Mini Mini Fridge that’s smaller and cheaper

Nearly a year since Microsoft released their meme-worthy Xbox mini-fridge, the company announced a smaller, cheaper version of the Xbox-themed cold storage device.

The newer and even smaller Xbox mini-fridge was revealed by VP of Games Marketing Aaron Greenberg, who confirmed the new mini fridge is out in the wild and costs only $79 at participating retailers.

Greenberg noted that while the new fridge can store 8 cans, it’s also supposed to be quieter than the infamously-loud first generation of the Xbox mini fridges. The older, larger, and slightly pricier mini-fridge will remain available as well – priced at $99.

While you may think novelty merch like this mini-fridge is a joke and question who would purchase one – demand has been strong enough that its been hard for retailers to keep them in stock. Greenberg noted they’re trying to make “as many as they can” to meet demand.

Following the original joke and memes that the Series X looked like a fridge – Microsoft joined a contest to see if Xbox was more popular than Skittles. When Microsoft won, they obliged to their original pledge to actually make their Mini Fridge a reality.
