Visual Concepts and 2K Games have announced the servers for WWE 2K22 will be shutting down early next year.
The latest in their wrestling game franchise will shut down on January 3, 2024. As a result, features such as community creations and online matches will be unavailable beyond that date.
This news and the date of the shutdown means that the game’s servers were online for less than 2 years, as WWE 2K22 launched back on March 11, 2022 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
A sequel has since launched earlier this year as the franchise has been yearly with the exception of the cancelation of WWE 2K21. The company did reaffirm this when announcing the server shutdown date. Though some may not view that positively to have to purchase a new game for online services.
However, for those wanting to continue to play online beyond January 3rd, then WWE 2K23 is their next best option which is available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via Steam).
