Welcome back to Waifu Wednesday, Niche Gamer’s column where we talk about characters, their appeal, and a little on their history.
Today’s waifu is Muu Muyu from Phase Connect! She’s part of the newest generation alongside previous waifu wednesday Eimi Isami!
Muyu is a purple cow, an alchemist, and one of the cutest VTubers we’ve seen. She somehow manages to stay in-character, sprinkling cute “moos” at the end of sentences and speaking in the third person, it’s absolutely adorable.
Most recently, Muyu came across our Twitter feed due to her speech about “normies” in anime spaces and the importance of gatekeeping hobbies from people who join just so they can change them, without any consideration for the fans already in that space.

Muyu’s character is that she’s an alchemist and is ironically flat despite being a cowgirl, subverting the usual cliche. She has also has a cute mole on her chin.
Muyu’s a “pon” (short for ponkotsu) type of character, or at least that’s my impression. Her in-character moods swing from clumsy, to bratty, to cute (technically she’s ALWAYS cute), and then repeats the process all over again. You can see Muyu’s cute clumsiness for yourself in a tweet where she called herself the Great Alchemical “Pupple” Smoke.

Her usual streams involve cute adventure games like Slime Rancher 2, Snufkin: Melody of Moomin Valley, and even Peppa Pig: World Adventures. But don’t let those fool you, Muyu puts in some real gaming hours with titles such as Deep Rock Galactic, Ultrakill, and of course Little Witch Nobeta. You can check out one of her streams below.
