Vindictus: Defying Fate gets an alpha playtest this month

Publishe and developer Nexon have announced an alpha playtest for their newly announced action RPG Vindictus: Defying Fate.

The new alpha playtest will kick off on March 13th at 6 PM Pacific / 9 PM Eastern and run through March 18th at 1 PM Pacific / 4 PM Eastern.

The public playtest will give players access to an alpha build of the game still in early development, with a demo-level play of combat with two playable characters: Fiona and Lann. There will also be regions based on early-world concepts, emotes, and outfits for testing.

Given Vindictus: Defying Fate is currently going through an early development phase, future updates will introduce more content, including narrative elements, a growth system, character stats, items, and more. This is the first chance for players to get hands-on with the game and provide feedback to Nexon on what they love, or would like to see change. The development team encourages all players to provide feedback, either during or after playing the test, by joining Vindictus: Defying Fate’s official Discord server and sharing what they enjoyed and what they would like to see change. Feedback from players at this stage of development will help shape the final game and is greatly appreciated.

Lann and Fiona

Players may remember Fiona from the game reveal trailer back in February. She is a versatile fighter armed with a longsword and shield as her weapons of choice. Fiona is ideal for players who prefer a more defensive playstyle, using her shield to guard against incoming damage while leaving her opponents open to counter-attacks. Her “heavy stander” unique skill with the shield allows her to block all incoming damage from all sources, but only for a limited time.

Lann is a dual sword-wielding battler, whose lightning-fast reflexes allow him to dodge attacks while swiftly retaliating back at his opponent. The returning fan-favorite from Vindictus (2010), focuses primarily on offensive skills and will likely be the champion of choice for those players aiming to to go all in with an aggressive playstyle. Make him angry enough and unleash “Lann’s fury”, a unique skill that enables him to rush past the enemy along with a devastatingly strong slash attack.
