Vicarious Visions has merged with Blizzard Entertainment, ending its three decade long run as a studio.
We’ve officially merged with Blizzard Entertainment,” Vicarious Visions announced. “Our development team will remain in Albany, NY and fully dedicated to Blizzard games. We invite you to follow us at Blizzard Entertainment.”
While Vicarious Visions has merged with Blizzard Entertainment, the studio previously announced they would be rolled into Blizzard proper just after the release of Diablo II: Resurrected, which they co-developed with internal Blizzard staff.
Vicarious Visions’ last wholly developed game prior to the full merger was the remaster/remake of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2, which they released a year prior in September 2020.
Following the news that Vicarious Visions merged with Blizzard Entertainment, their new name is Blizzard Albany (the studio is based in Albany, NY as mentioned above) and their official website now points to Blizzard’s recruitment page.
