Valor Mortis delayed as September release calendar becomes too crowded

Valor Mortis

Just days after announcing a September 24 launch date during the Xbox Games Showcase, developer One More Level has confirmed that Valor Mortis is delayed.

The Napoleonic soulslike game will now release on October 13 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

The studio explained that the decision came after taking a closer look at just how packed September has become. With major titles such as Marvel’s Wolverine, Silent Hill: Townfall, Control Resonant, The Blood of Dawnwalker, and several other highly anticipated releases all landing within a short period, the team felt Valor Mortis deserved a little more room to stand out.

The extra time won’t simply be used to avoid competition. One More Level says it has already been gathering feedback from the newly released Steam demo and plans to spend the additional weeks improving the game before launch.

Many publishers have shifted their games into September and October to avoid going head-to-head with Grand Theft Auto VI, which is currently scheduled to launch in November. The result is one of the busiest fall release calendars in recent memory.

Valor Mortis is set to launch sometime across Windows PC (Steam), Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 on October 13. A playable demo is available on Steam, too.
