This is not the first time this year that Ubisoft has pulled online support from their games. We previously reported on the shutdown of older titles as well, so this appears to be a continuing process.
With each of these games losing access to online services and some, such as Splinter Cell Blacklist losing access to DLC content, this further raises the questions about ownership of digital goods.
We also reported earlier today that Playstation owners have also lost access to their purchases Studio Canal films – another concern over whether or not you actually own digital games or goods.
