Torchlight Moves to iOS and Android With Torchlight Mobile

Torchlight Mobile 6-24-2015 - 1

Sure, it’s not the catchiest title, but the Torchlight series is making the move to mobile devices, and it’s planned to debut sometime this year.

The click to kill interface has been changed out for a set up with virtual buttons that are meant to be touch friendly, but the gameplay will remain largely the same. Players will be choosing one of three classes to head out as on condensed quests to beat up enemies and steal some loot, same as the main entries in the series.

Unfortunately, this isn’t all great news. Torchlight Mobile will be free to play, and will utilize an energy system, as typical for mobile games. Of course, you’ll need to wait for a period of time for your energy to refresh between quests as usual. There will also be premium and in-app purchases to help players along their journey, as well as the ability to instantly refill your energy. All normal additions for a mobile game, though not happy ones.

Torchlight Mobile will feature online play according to the developer, which hopefully means the ease of access to adventuring with friends will remain as easy as ever. Screenshots do show players with their names over their heads, and that’s a good sign that online play is actually online play.

While no release date has been mentioned, the game is currently scheduled for sometime this year.
