Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE Encore Japanese Website Shows Uncensored Image, English Language Support

The Japanese website for Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE Encore has shown one of the game’s images uncensored and support for English language.

In case you missed our earlier report, the trailer for the game rose concerns that the censorship that plagued the original (Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE) would return- and possibly even in the Japanese version.

On the official Japanese website, one images (shown above) depicts the character Tsubasa in her original Japanese outfits.

The costume and scene appears during the “music video” for the song “Feel“. Comparing that scene in the Japanese and English versions of the original game, we can see this costume more closely resembles the original Japanese.

This costume was original censored in English to make her bikini top less revealing and adding straps going up to her shoulders. Despite the cropping on the image, we can see the shoulder straps of the latter are not present.

However, the image from the Japanese website appears identical to images used by some outlets when discussing the original Wii U game three years prior. Some listings of the game on Amazon also use the image- despite that scene being censored in English. There is a chance the website is using older promotional material.

In addition the official Japanese Nintendo website where the game can be purchased notes (just above the age rating) the supported languages include “Japanese, English, French, Chinese.

While this is likely to include text and subtitles, we do not know the full details at this time. As the Nintendo Switch has no region locking, anyone could hypothetically purchase and import the Japanese version.

We will keep you informed as we learn more.

Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE Encore launches January 17th, 2020 on Nintendo Switch.
