Organizers of the Tokyo Game Show have announced [1, 2, 3] Tokyo Game Show 2020 Online, along with the dates the event will run.
The physical event had been cancelled in May of this year, due to the coronavirus pandemic. At the time it was announced that the event would continue in a digital format.
Now, the Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association (CESA) has made two press releases [1, 2]. Firstly, Tokyo Game Show 2020 Online will take place from September 24th to 27th.
The event will showcase new games, new trailers, round table discussions, and an unspecified e-Sports tournament. It will also use a “Business Matching System” to aid in networking and meetings for publishers and developers. This will begin on September 23rd.
Next, CESA announced a collaboration with Nikkei Business Publications and DENTSU Inc., for the “Sense of Wonder Night 2020.” While the “Selected Exhibit” allows anyone to showcase their game for no fee, the Sense of Wonder Night will give those at the exhibit “opportunities for the presentation to their game idea ideas that will give the players ‘Sense of Wonder.’ “
Eight titles will be nominated, and voted by judges for awards including “Grand Audience” and “Best Game Design.” Two of the sponsors (Nintendo and Sony Interactive Entertainment) have announced they will support the developers of both the exhibit and the Sense of Wonder Night competition. Both projects will also have support from IGDA Japan (International Game Developers Association).
The ongoing coronavirus pandemic (also known as COVID-19 officially, or Chinese Flu to others) has affected many worldwide, from businesses to public gatherings and events.
This includes postponements of GDC, the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, the physical event for EVO 2020, and cancellations E3 2020 (including digital events), BlizzCon 2020, the physical event for Gamescom 2020, Comiket 98, and MAGStock 2020.

There have been over 483,000 deaths; however over 4.775 million people have made a “total recovery.” There have been over 9.467 million total confirmed cases.
Japan has 955 active cases (18,037 total cases), 969 deaths, and 16,113 recoveries.
