The Witcher Netflix series will premiere its third season sometime in summer 2023 – news announced at the company’s latest Tudum fan event.
While the show’s third season is coming much sooner than its second season (it was delayed multiple times due to COVID19), a new trailer wasn’t shown. However, there was some behind-the-scenes video with Freya Allen as Ciri, shooting some kind of action scene on a boat.
This is a much quicker time frame as mentioned when compared to its first and second seasons, which nearly spanned two years. The third season was previously delayed as well, also due to COVID19 measures and the occassional staff infections.
Season three of The Witcher will follow the story and events in Andrzej Sapkowski’s iconic book series, specifically its second book – Time of Contempt.
Despite this, showrunners have taken lots of liberation taken with the source material on The Witcher Netflix series, most notably the race-swapping of key characters. The show also features timeline changes, where some characters are lumped together when they normally aren’t being included in the section of the book.
