It’s official – The Super Mario Bros. Movie has topped $1 billion in sales not long after its Japan premiere.
The new milestone includes $490 million in domestic sales within the Americas and $532 million at the international box office (thanks, Variety).
Coming from this, The Super Mario Bros. Movie is now the first film of 2023 to hit the lofty $1 billion sales record, a mere 26 days after it premiered. It’s also the highest-grossing video game to movie adaptation of all time.
Furthermore, the Mario Bros. Movie is the fifth film in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic to hit one billion in sales after Spider-Man: No Way Home, Top Gun: Maverick, Jurassic World Dominion, and Avatar: The Way of Water.
