Mobile games shutting down isn’t an uncommon occurrence in the sphere of ones based on Japanese properties. However, it’s even rare to see one last as long as The Idolmaster: Cinderella Girls, which launched back on November 28, 2011.

The game is currently in its 11th year in existence, but sadly it seems that even this isn’t safe from being shut down. Developer Bandai Namco announced the long running title will be shutting down March 30, 2023.

There’s a longer post on their website on the matter. However it does not give any information as to the reason for the game’s closure after being in service for as long as it has. The game’s producer does give his gratitude to the fans for The Idolmaster: Cinderella Girls lasting much longer than he ever expected.

Despite being in service for over 10 years and garnering a major fanbase through it, The Idolmaster Cinderella Girls has only been available in Japan. Which is different from many of its peers, which release global versions that target places such as the USA or European regions.

Most recently the franchise added Idolmaster Starlit Season to the long list of titles in the series, which launched in late 2021 only in Asia.

This is far from the only recent game to be shutting down or announced to be shut down. In just this year along, titles such as Idola Phantasy Star, Heroes of Newerth, and Jump Force were all games that are suffering from similar fates.

While The Idolmaster: Cinderella Girls will be shutting down services by March 30, 2023. The game will still be available on mobile devices with iOS and Android until then.
