While Tekken 7 has only been available in Japanese arcades for a few weeks now, Tekken series producer Katsuhiro Harada has begun talking up adding new characters to the game.
When speaking with Famitsu, Harada-san talked about new characters in the game. He began with Claudio Serafino (featured above), a new Italian character that makes his debut in Tekken 7. “Claudio’s past, setting, and story are very important,” said Harada. “We needed an external party that can fight against the power of the ‘Devil’ that has been plaguing the series and its stories.”
“We started off with a plan to have a setting with an group put together to defeat the Devil, but this eventually was simply changed into Claudio himself,” Harada continued. “By the way, we currently have four new characters, however later we’ll add new characters via content updates, so please look forward to it!”
Famitsu moved on by asking him for a teaser on the new characters. “We’re not going to reduce the existing roster, so yes, we’re contemplating adding more,” said Harada. “We also want to give those who have been playing the entire series a fresh experience.”
Famitsu pointed out that Tekken 7 currently has 20 characters in its debut release, and they asked if we’ll see more returning character reveals in the future. “I can’t reveal which characters, but we’ll keep adding previous characters, so please look forward to that as well,” said Harada.
Tekken 7 is currently out in Japanese arcades, however a home console version hasn’t been confirmed – yet. Could some of these characters be in the recent leak that we previously covered? We’ll keep you guys posted.
