Tango Gameworks confirms “rebirth” after getting saved by Krafton

Japanese developer Tango Gameworks has revealed they’ve been “reborn” after getting acquired and saved by Korean publisher Krafton.

Previously, the HI-FI RUSH (featured above) and Ghostwire: Tokyo developer was reportedly shut down by then-owner Microsoft, only to get acquired and revived by Krafton a few months later in a new deal.

“Tango Gameworks studio has been reborn as Tango Gameworks Inc., proudly joining KRAFTON Inc,” the developer said in a new message.

They added, “We’re excited to continue crafting games that bring joy to players around the world. Thank you for your continued support as we embark on this new journey!”

This was the first message posted to Tango Gameworks’ social media after they confirmed they would be shutting down earlier last year.

Krafton is mostly known for their wildly popular multiplayer shooter PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, though they have numerous upcoming projects like the promising life sim inZOI, which launches soon.

It remains to be seen what Tango Gameworks will be working on next – though many fans are begging for sequels to the aforementioned HI-FI RUSH, Ghostwire: Tokyo, and maybe even a sequel to The Evil Within.
