Tales of Arise Producer Confirms No Post-Launch Story DLC; A Complete Experience with No Sequel Planned

Tales of Arise

Producer Yusuke Tomizawa has confirmed that Tales of Arise will be a complete experience with no post-launch story DLC.

SiliconEra reports the news came via the recent Tales of Arise livestream. This featured gameplay [1, 2, 3, 4, 5], alternate and DLC costumes, music DLC from prior games in the series, and more.

Tomizawa reportedly explained that along with the game not having any post-launch DLC with story content, the game would be complete and (in SiliconEra’s words) “not inspire a sequel or prequel.” As with most prior Tales of titles, the story is also not linked to any prior titles in the series. There will be Tales of Arise content appearing in Tales of mobile games however.

Tales of Vesperia had a 2008 launch, while the Definitive Edition in 2019 added additional content. This included playable characters who were only previously available on the PlayStation 3 version, along with new bosses, new story scenes and skits, artes, costumes, and post-game dungeons. Tales of Arise will feature a special editions; featuring DLC items to start players on their journey, along with DLC costumes.

As previously reported, Tales of Arise takes place on the world of Dahna, where they had worshiped the nearby planet of Rena for 300 years. This reverence lead to the people of that world exploiting Dahna for resources and servitude. The ever crumbling “peace” between the two will soon be exploited by dark forces.
