System 3 Software has announced they’re going to be crowdfunding a new The Last Ninja game for current-generation platforms.

The Kickstarter campaign will begin sometime in late October. While the last game in the series (The Last Ninja 3) was released in 1991, the fourth game was proposed in 1993, but was unfortunately never developed.

A Ninja Gaiden-like game in the series was revealed at E3 2003 for the PS2, Xbox, and GameCube, but was quietly scrapped before its planned 2004 launch. The Kickstarter for this new game in the series comes during the 30th anniversary for The Last Ninja.
