We’ve learned (via Famitsu) that total Nintendo Switch hardware sales in Japan have topped five million units.

The new milestone was reached as of September 2nd, with the total at that time being 5,007,368 units sold. The Nintendo Switch launched back on March 3rd of last year.

Japanese hardware sales for the Switch topped 4 million units back in March of this year, meaning a million or more consoles were sold in roughly four months. Total worldwide sales of the Switch were last standing at 19.67 million units, meaning the Switch has now sold over 20 million units worldwide.

The Nintendo Switch is now available worldwide, for $299.
