Unless you’ve been on the moon since February, you are probably aware of how big of a hit Stardew Valley is. Lauded for its somehow therapeutic effect it has on players, and seeming to tap into the Harvest Moon crowd’s desire for an heir, Eric Barone’s game is quickly reaching Minecraft levels of success. How quickly you ask? Try over a million copies sold since its release two months ago.
This news comes on the heels of our own report revealing last month that Stardew Valley had sold over half a million.
As of this writing, Stardew Valley sits third in sales for the year on Steam behind Ark: Survival of the Fittest and H1Z1. Not bad for an indie game made by one devoted genre fan who programmed it in his spare time over several years. It even has a strong modding community crafting custom content for the game.
Those wanting to see what all the fuss is about can purchase it on Steam or GOG for $14.99. Though it’s only for Windows PC at the time being, Barone has stated that sales will dictate whether it will appear on other platforms.
