Starbound Development is Picking Up

Chucklefish is looking to pick up the pace with the development of Starbound, its upcoming Terraria inspired pixelated sandbox game that is currently in Steam Early Access.

The pick up of pacing is set to happen soon after their new U.K. office is set up, as having the team assembling in one place will make the workflow “much more efficient and creative.” Also, Chucklefish is looking to push out updates more frequently in the future.

Starbound project leader Finn Brice had this to say regarding future content updates:

“Essentially we’re separating content updates and engine updates. Content updates are going to be pushed to the server as and when content is finished being produced, we’re no longer going to wait on engine updates to push them out at the same time. This also means engine updates will get additional internal testing.

The artists have been working on a bunch of new content that’s pretty much ready to go as soon as this is done. We’ll also be adding the best/most fitting mods to the game with increased frequency.”

Brice reiterated that future content updates will not change the version number, meaning that pure content updates won’t break the mods you’re running.
