Stardock Entertainment has confirmed Star Control: Origins has returned to the Steam store.
The game was removed from the store amid an ongoing legal dispute between Stardock and both Paul Reiche III and Fred Ford over the ownership of the Star Control franchise. Reiche and Ford issued an illegitimate DMCA takedown against the game, automatically removing it from Steam. Stardock Entertainment then began selling the game via their own website.
Stardock boss Brad Wardell thanked the “#freestarcontrol movement” on Twitter for helping drive awareness behind the game’s removal, in a separate tweet. As of now, the game is available on Steam and their own website.
