Previously, we reported on Capcom adding in-game advertisements to Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition.
The questionable and somewhat intrusive ads were only running for the game’s Capcom Pro Tour tournament, which has come and gone. As such, the ads have been removed from the game, but could return later – according to producer Yoshinori Ono.
“We value and thank our community for providing feedback on the new Sponsored Content feature added to Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition this week,” Ono said in a statement posted to Twitter.
He added, “We will continue collecting everyone’s feedback to consider how we can improve this new feature for players in the future.”
Capcom never said the ads were permanent, nor that the Pro Tour ads would remain either. The advertisements, which came in the form of logos on the back of character’s outfits, loading screens, and stage-based ads (seen above), may return if Capcom finds a new sponsor.
Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition is available now for Windows PC and PlayStation 4.
