Spiders continue to crawl into the deepest, most terrifying places of American culture, typically making up a large majority of those “nope” memes. However, Spider: Rite of the Shrouded Moon lets you be the spider.
As a platformer, you hunt for various insects, using your abilities and spider-web making to catch prey and complete levels. Perhaps most intriguing is a real-life weather mechanic that Creative Director Randy Smith has written into the game.
If players are at home on any given day, the game and the PS4 will analyze the weather happening outside. If it is sunny outside, then the game will be sunny. This allows for many daytime insects to be seen on-screen, ready to be collected. Suddenly, a thunderstorm enters your town, bringing about lightning, rain, and winds.
The PS Vita version will access the GPS location of the Vita while the PS4 will analyze your location via the IP address of a PS4 internet connection. This feature will work should the user allow permission for it. The game also features cross-buy and cross-save between the PS4 and PS Vita versions.
Spider: Rite of the Shrouded Moon will crawl its ways to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita sometime by the end of the year.
