Sony is once again adjusting prices in 2026, this time focusing on PlayStation Plus subscriptions for new customers in select regions. The updated pricing officially takes effect on May 20.
According to Sony, the changes are tied to “ongoing market conditions”, which has become a pretty familiar explanation lately as companies deal with inflation, currency fluctuations, and rising operational costs worldwide.
The increase mainly affects shorter-term subscription options rather than yearly memberships. The standard one-month plan is moving from $9.99 to $10.99, while the three-month subscription jumps from $24.99 to $27.99. Similar price increases are also happening across UK and European pricing tiers.
The good news for current subscribers is that most existing members won’t immediately feel the impact. In many regions, Sony is allowing active users to keep their current pricing as long as their subscription remains uninterrupted.
However, if a membership expires, changes tiers, or gets modified in certain ways, the updated pricing would then apply. Exceptions include countries like Turkey and India, where the adjustments are affecting a broader range of users.
The announcement also follows several other price increases from Sony earlier this year. In 2026 alone, the company already raised prices for hardware like the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, and PlayStation Portal in certain markets.
If you’re already subscribed and live in an unaffected region, there’s probably no immediate reason to panic. Still, with prices continuing to trend upward, this might be one of those moments where locking in a longer-term subscription while older rates are still active could end up saving some money later on.
