Sony Confirms Street Fighter V Publishing Deal – Forever a PS4 Console Exclusive

Following the premature leak for Street Fighter V yesterday, Sony has gone and confirmed the game as a Playstation 4 console exclusive.

“When we first began working on the vision of what’s next in the Street Fighter franchise, we reached out to PlayStation,” Street Fighter producer Yoshinori Ono said during Sony’s Playstation Experience event. “It was clear to match the passion of Street Fighter fans around the world, we needed the combined strength of both Capcom and PlayStation. On that note, it gives me great pleasure to officially announce that Street Fighter V is coming and it will be exclusive to PlayStation 4 and PC.”

Sony is partnering with Capcom in regards to the development of the game, and they’re also making both the PlayStation 4 version cross-play compatible with PC version. To reiterate the exclusivity of the game, Sony’s Adam Boyes said:

“PlayStation 4 will be the only console this game ever appears on”

Street Fighter V is also getting the first live gameplay demonstration next Saturday, at the Capcom Cup.

Finally, you can find the debut gameplay below:

I’m disappointed that they kept the art direction and aesthetic of SFIV, one of the things l always loved about SF is that every sequel had it’s own unique look and feel to it.

Seems like Capcom are playing it safe to me, l hope the gameplay delivers but l would just love to play another pure 2D Street Fighter game again.

Cross play, huh? They better be putting real effort towards SFV’s netcode then. SFIV on console right now is roughly the average in comparison with other FGs’ performance online, and I’ve heard USF4 on PC isn’t the greatest, to put it lightly.

I was wondering where that sound of immense rage was coming from. I can’t imagine fans of SF4 who own an Xbox will be too thrilled with this.

I think it is time Capcom just embrace GGPO and move on with their lives.

Well the Xbox One got Killer Instinct so PS4 got Street Fighter V…..I couldn’t care less. When I get a PS4 it will be for Bloodborne and Uncharted 4.
