When Sony announced the pricing and release date for the PlayStation 5 last week, they also confirmed that pre-orders would go live the very next day. One retailer launched PlayStation 5 pre-orders early that night, and then all hell broke loose – ending with all retailers sold out, and some even saying they won’t be able to fulfill all their pre-orders.
Many gamers wanted to hop on getting a pre-order on Sony’s latest flagship console, however the pre-order fiasco left many unable to even access the store page for the console. Sony has gone on the record to address the situation, as it remains unclear how much stock will be available between now its November launch.
“Let’s be honest: PS5 preorders could have been a lot smoother. We truly apologize for that,” Sony said in a statement. “Over the next few days, we will release more PS5 consoles for preorder – retailers will share more details. And more PS5s will be available through the end of the year.”
As mentioned in our previous report, the PlayStation 5 will launch November 12th in the US, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea. For the rest of the world, it will launch November 19th, and will cost $499.99, while the Digital Edition will cost $399.99.
